[A fast-food restaurant has decided to reel in more customers by setting up a crane game up front - and it worked, because this teenage girl is putting in a quarter in the hopes of winning that plushie red guitar obviously inspired by the Jammin' Ninja. It would look great on her study table...and would be soft and squishy enough for those times when she would need something soft and squishy to squeeze.

Kay is deftly working the controls, moving the metal claw ever so slightly until it is right over the guitar. Then she slowly lowers it...slowly...slowly...

Boy, she's really concentrating. A bead of sweat traces its way from the side of her head down to her cheek.]

Come on...come on...

[The cranes are stuffed with really cute plushies, and while Cynthia prefers the one with unicorns inside, she's not about to leave a friend behind while she suffers the trials and tribulations of a crane machine. She's pumped up, fists clenched as she watches over Kay's shoulder. As soon as Kay gets close though--]

NOW SWOOP DOWN AND GRAB IT!

[She sounds way too excited about this, though she's also making up a lovely story in her head about Kay: Amazing Detective who can find any item, solve any crime, and always saves the day. Kay just doesn't know it yet.]

[She jumps a little at Cynthia's excited outburst, but doesn't let go of the lever and keeps her eyes on the prize. The claw descends with a soft but smooth, sliding, metallic sound, opening over the plush guitar.]

I got this, I got this...

[And she's got it. The guitar clenched in the grip of the claw, Kay raises it from the rest of the stuffed toys painstakingly, biting her lip. SUSPENSE!]

Come on, come on, come on... [Cynthia stops being quiet as soon as the crane hits the mark, grinning widely in excitement. The only thing is that if Kay wins this, you know she's going to be stuck trying to win Cynthia a prize of her own.]

Don't let it slip away!

[Kay wouldn't mind. It's an excuse to play the game again.

The guitar rises higher...and higher...inch by inch. When she speaks, she keeps an eye on the crane and doesn't turn her head or look anywhere else.]

What kind of Great Thief would I be if I let my prize slip away?

[She gently guides the crane to the spot where she would drop the guitar - straight into the compartment at the bottom where all prizes come out of. The claws release it, and it falls with a soft plop to the bottom. Kay retrieves it and holds it up in victory.]

Ta-da!

[Woah... stop mentioning the fact that you're a thief, Kay!]

Woah-- I thought I told you we finished that game already! [Gosh, Kay, keep up with the times. Though she does look proud and rather pleased when Kay manages to get the toy.]

Now do me.. I want that one!

[Totally pointing at a unicorn... yeah.]

[Kay stuffs her prize into her bag. No, Cynthia, we are never finished with the I AM A THIEF game, but anyway, she nods, willing to win something for her.

She digs into her bag for her wallet...oh, dang, that was her last quarter.]

I'm out of coins, though, do you have one?

[She wants that game to end!! Kay you need to choose a cooler villain spot, okay?! Either way... she looks into her own wallet, upset to see she only has dollar coins instead.]

I don't either.

[But thieves are cool!

Kay shrugs.]

Not a problem, we can change our dollars to more quarters. [Just don't get addicted to the crane game, girls...or else you'll be out of money.] Better make sure we have enough money left for a snack, though.

How much do you think we'll need?

[Cynthia doesn't have too much to her name, but ... she has faith in Kay's ability to work the crane tbh]

Hmm, probably not much. Let's set aside two quarters for your prize. [Just to be sure. In case one attempt ends in failure.]</small. Then the rest is for the snack.

Gotcha! [She pulls out a dollar anyway, ready to exchange it for the quarters instead.] Where should we go to eat anyway?

I know a cafe with great cakes and tea. Their Swiss rolls are the best, though.
