[Thankfully the fact that the balls are shifting to put more leverage under his feet, the lightest part of his body, and lift them up just over the top of the balls. The bad thing is that the shift of the balls sends his head lower until Kenma's air really does start to get cut off.

His eyes lid, slowly shutting and his oxygen levels slowly sink.

A nap... wouldn't hurt, right? Too bad it has the risk of coming with eternal sleep.]

[ …Right. When he said Don't move, he didn't mean literally. ]

Kenma? [ He grabbed at an ankle, ascertained that it was, in fact, his best friend's foot before he started digging around in the balls after the rest of him. ]

Kenma!! Can you hear me? [ Please don't be dead— ]

[Look if you're going to give him the option... well. His eyes flutter at the grab at least, opening enough to see the shuffle of balls above him.]

--loud. [It's the last of a sentence, but the rest is muffled by how many balls still lie in their way.]

[ Don't sass your rescuer!!! ]

Kenma!! [ HE COULD ALMOST CRY TEARS OF JOY but no he's just reaching out with both hands to grab him and haul him upright. And maybe onto his back if they can manage it. He'll swim them to safety!!

Kuroo breathes a sigh of relief first, however. ]

You can still breathe… Damn it, quit worryin' me like that.

[Too bad. Though he's grateful when he can finally take in large quantities of oxygen, getting a little head rush.]

I didn't do it on purpose. [No, he was most definitely shoved in there, maybe even picked up and dunked in. Their teammates are cruel this week.]

You could've called for help. [ Lazy. ] The kids around here aren't being that loud.

[ Although they sure are annoying, diving among the balls like. Like fishes or something. It irks him. ]

But they did it. [Looking at you, Lev...] They're not going to help.

[And Kuroo wasn't there at the time, he didn't know.]

Tch. [ He does have a point. And if Yaku or Kai or somebody else who's actually responsible had been around they wouldn't be here, lost and adrift in a sea of colorful balls, to begin with. ]

Fine. [ He shuffles around, crouching a little. ]

Now get on my back so I can carry you out of here. [ The things he does for you, man. ]

[There's no smile because he's won, there never is, but he does instantly reach his hands up without complaint -- if only to get out of this stupid thing. It's exhausting trying to keep upright, and he doubts Kuroo wants to keep tugging him along either.

He huffs his way up, finally clinging around his shoulders and gripping tight. He doesn't say anything back, just hopes this will all be over soon.]

[ Kuroo starts the slow, arduous journey back to the edge of the ball pit without another word. Things like these came to him on instinct by now, anyway. Taking care of Kenma is practically second nature to him by now.

He almost trips once, but he only cusses under his breath and keeps going. ]

Y’know…I haven’t done this since we were kids. [ Does he mean fucking around in a ball pit or what? ]

It’s kinda nice.

[When Kuroo almost trips he grips on tighter, worried he's going to end up sliding down his back otherwise. He doesn't let go, but he doesn't say anything either. He doesn't really agree or disagree. It's just something that's happening.]

You can go back in after.

[He doesn't want to go near a ballpit again, thanks.]

[ Not when Kuroo’s keeping a firm hold on his legs he’s not, although his normally spry footwork’s a bit compromised by the terrain at the moment. To say nothing of the squealing kids swimming around the ball pit and shifting the tides to and fro. ]

I’m not talking about the ball pit, you idiot. [ But he chuckles anyway, even as he rather deftly avoids a mini-ballalanche from collapsing on top of them. ]

I used to carry you back home whenever you got hurt, remember? Your mom would get so mad at us…

[He digs his fingers in a little for being called an idiot, he didn't specify, in the end. It's not his fault Kuroo is a loser who acts like an old man with nostalgia sometimes.]

I don't remember. [He does, but he doesn't want to think about it in a weird place like this. Not when they're near the exit and Lev might hear. He gets tormented enough already.] Put me down once we're out.

[ Ahh, what a killjoy, Kenma. Even Kuroo has seen the need to try and get him to soak up some fun in a ball pit—Lev had just gone about it in the worst way imaginable (as always). ]

That hurts~ [ He says in his old man voice. It doesn’t really hurt at all, but that could be because he feels a bit battered by all these balls he has to wade through already. ]

[He just sinks down a little, chin resting against Kuroo's shoulder, arms limp in place too and his eyes start to shut a bit.]

Does it? [He sounds indifferent to whether it does hurt or not though, letting the peaceful moment lull him from the panic of before.]

Are you gonna make it worse? [ Not that he thinks Kenma would actually bother to go that far, but you know. ]

I'm not putting you down if you do, you know.

Not really. [He really can't be bothered to go that far, Kuroo. Don't worry.] So you can put me down.

Fine, fine~ [ No reason to keep carrying him around like this, anyway. ]

And maybe you can try to distract Lev for a change.

[ So, y'know, he won't get himself tossed into the ball pit again… ]

[When he's placed down again there's a faint sight of relief, but it's short lived. His eyes narrow in Kuroo's direction, before his head lowers and a mumble follows.] I don't want to.

That's too bad, then. [ There's that sly little grin of his as boisterous shouts of "Kenma-san!!" issue from somewhere behind them.

Evidently, even Yaku can't keep him on a leash forever.

And now that the danger of the ball pit has passed, Kuroo can find it in himself to be a little more flippant about the situation. Ergo, you're on your own, Kenma. He'll give you a light punch on the shoulder as an encouragement. ]

He seems to like pestering you the most. [ It's kind of cute, really. ]

[It is too bad, because doesn't Kuroo realise that if Lev keeps this up he's just going to go home??? He's halfway through pulling his phone from his pocket when Kuroo punches his shoulder, glaring back at him for the action. Instead of saying anything about it though, he opens up the latest game he's been playing, loading it up.]

It's irritating. [Well, at least he's honest about it???]

[ Underestimating the kid’s persistence now, are we… ]

You won’t have to die of suffocation next time. [ Not helping. ]

[If he follows him home he'll shut the door on his face Kuroo... He doesn't want it.]

That's what you think. [Really not helping.]

[ Hey, if Kuroo can burst into his bedroom like when they were kids… ]

Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for you.

[ But then he always does. ]

[Ah yes, give him a bloody nose while he's still stood behind it, I see...]

Why don't you just go entertain him?
